The Rev. Dr. Alonza B. Williams was born in Newport News Virginia. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the New Grafton Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia. He completed high school in Hampton, Virginia and in 1976 graduated from The Ohio Institute of Technology, currently DeVry University, Columbus, Ohio.
Relocating to the Richmond area, he was employed by a Fortune 500 company for 30 years, retiring in 2009. His diverse background includes electronics, real estate, process control, investing, electricity, pneumatics, and counseling.
It was also in the Richmond area, that he met and married his soul mate, the former Shari D. Harris of Chesterfield, Virginia. After visiting many churches in the Richmond vicinity, the couple joined the Union Branch Baptist Church located in Chesterfield County. There they grew in the faith and served in numerous ministries. It is also where Rev. Dr. Williams answered God’s call to the gospel ministry. He was licensed in 2003 and ordained in 2005.
Studying to show himself approved unto God, Rev. Dr. Williams has earned with honors: A Certificate and Diploma of Theological Studies from The Way of Life Spiritual Development Center, a Bible School in Partnership with Oral Roberts University; a Master’s of Divinity Degree from The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from The Wesley Theological Seminary, in Washington DC.
In 2008, Rev. Dr. Williams accepted the call of God to pastor at, The Branches Runn Baptist Church, Amelia, Virginia. There he leads in preparing God's people and the church for transformational 21st century ministry by exampling and contending for the faith, even while developing disciples with heightened awareness and response to dysfunction and dis-ease outside the church.
